The Very First Time I Spoke In Public

On the 12th of November I made my public speaking debut.

I spoke, it was in public...I am a public speaker!

I spoke, it was in public...I am a public speaker!

I have Marnus Broodryk of the Beancounter Financial Services to thank for that. He decided that he wanted me to speak at the launch of his new office in Harrismith…who was I to say no to that?

Marnus heard my interview with Rian van Heerden on O-fm, then contacted me Facebook and the rest they say is history :-)

Why on earth would Marnus invite someone who is living without money to speak at his launch? Especially when the Beancounter is a firm of accountants trying to get the business of people who are all about making money! Well, if the home page of their website is anything to go by you might understand…this is what it says – “Loosen your tie, get rid of the suit – this isn’t your ordinary accountant!”

Marnus and his team are definitely not ordinary…they are cool, caring and creative. They were great hosts and put on an awesome launch. Their existing clients were extremely happy with them and I am sure they have a few of Harrismith’s residents giving their old (tie wearing) accountants the bad news!

It was a pleasure hanging out with them and seeing them in action.

Marnus, you are going to go very far…I wish you all the success in the world.

Thank you for giving me my break as a public speaker!

The Beancounter Has Been Taking Lank Good Care Of Me

My new friend, Marnus Broodryk – the Beancounter - picked me up from Telana’s house last night at about 7pm. I met his colleague Christo and some of his other friends in Joburg.

We then went to have some aweome pizza at Pannerrottis and had a reasonably early night. We did this because Marnus insisted on waking up dawn’s crack to get on the road to Harrismith. (by dawn’s crack I mean 4h50am for me…even  earlier for Marnus & Christo – I am still trying to work out if it is an Afrikaans thing, or an accountant thing or both but these okes are organised!)

Just out of Joburg we stopped for a brekkie at the Total garage…YUM!

Now I am sitting in one of the spare offices at the premises in Harrismith and guess what…I AM USING THE INTERNET - hallelujah!!!!! And, they are even gonna try fix my laptop for me after the launch tonight.

Ek is baie dankbaar vir hul gasvryheid. (I am very grateful for their hospitality)

Now, I reckon tonight is gonna be alot of fun…but before we do that we are visiting a home for handicapped children and an old age home – these Beancounters have a heart too – my kind of people!

If you want to know more about them, you can check out their fan page on Facebook or go to their website

Adin’s New Jeans

I was getting a little nervous about the impression I was going to make at my first public talks…you see, the pair of jeans I have been wearing were getting more than a little tired and I needed a new pair.

How do you get a new pair of jeans if you don’t use money?

You get creative that’s how. More accurately, you do it with the enagagemnet of your friends. This is how it worked…

A few days before I took my no money show on the road, DONNA MCCALLUM (my lovely FAIRY  GODMOTHER) offered me 3 of her DREAM MAPPING AND GOAL SETTING WORKSHOPS. These were for me to use (i.e. trade) with my friends who made my trip up to Joburg possible without money.

Anywau, just in the nick of time my friend TAMMY MISBEHAVIOUR came to the rescue and got me a new pair of jeans from YDE. Literallythe day before I left we met at the H2) front and did the deal…I was lank relieved – take a look at the pics of my old jeans to see why :-)

So, now, MARNUS BROODRYK, the BEANCOUNTER who flew me up to speak at his launch, and TELANA SIMPSON, the ONEMATCHSTICK GIRL, who invited me to speak at her movie premiere, hopefully won’t regret their decision!

I love it when a plan comes together!

P.S. I’ve put some photos on Facebook if you wanna go see
